London’s Bakerloop Bus: A Preview of the Future
London’s new Bakerloop BL1 bus service, mimicking the proposed Bakerloo line extension, launched on September 27th, running between Waterloo and Lewisham. Sporting a distinctive Bisto-brown livery, the route operates every 12 minutes (Monday-Saturday daytime) and 15 minutes (Sundays, evenings, early mornings). Free travel is offered for the inaugural week, requiring only touch-in for data collection. Mayor Sadiq Khan champions the Bakerloop as a faster, greener interim solution, addressing immediate transport needs while showcasing the potential of the future Bakerloo line extension. The BL1 is part of the expanding Superloop network, with consultations underway for other routes (SL13, SL14, SL15) and previous consultations completed for SL11 and SL12.
