London’s Heritage Buses Return: Trafalgar Square to Tower Hill

The T15 Heritage Weekend, scheduled for Saturday, February 28, and Sunday, March 1, 2026, offers a unique opportunity to experience central London aboard vintage buses. This event revives the popular heritage bus service that TfL operated until 2020, allowing passengers to ride classic Routemasters, Daimler double-deckers, and other historic vehicles along the iconic number 15 route. Spanning between Trafalgar Square and Tower Hill, the journey passes famous landmarks along the Strand, Fleet Street, and Cannon Street, providing a nostalgic glimpse into London's transport history and the chance to enjoy an open-platform bus ride past some of the city's most celebrated sights.

Organised by Londoner Buses, the weekend features different arrangements for each day. On Saturday, a minimum of six heritage buses will operate approximately every 15 minutes from 10 am to 8 pm, running between Trafalgar Square and Tower Hill. Fares apply, with adult single tickets priced at £2.50, child singles at £1.00, adult day tickets at £7.50, and child day tickets at £5. This structured service offers a consistent way to enjoy the route while contributing to the event's sustainability.

Sunday's experience shifts to a larger scale, with around 17 vintage buses deployed. Services commence at 9:25 am from Parliament Square and 10 am from Tower Hill, concluding around 5 pm. A significant benefit on Sunday is that all bus rides are completely free. However, donations will be collected by the Worshipful Company of Carmen, with proceeds dedicated to aid in Ukraine, adding a charitable dimension to the historical journey. Specific examples of buses include a 1977 Silver Routemaster, introduced for Queen Elizabeth II's Silver Jubilee, which will be operational on both days.

For those unable to attend the T15 Heritage Weekend, another opportunity for free heritage rides is available on Saturday, March 14, along the number 38 route between Victoria and Clapton Pond.
