London Half Term Fun: October 2025 Family Guide
London’s October Half Term 2025, running from Saturday 25 October to Sunday 2 November, offers a diverse array of family-friendly events and activities, catering to all ages and budgets, notably encompassing Halloween on October 31st. The period is defined by a push to provide engaging experiences, from educational outings to thrilling adventures.
Benefits include opportunities for learning, physical activity, and cultural enrichment. New and notable attractions opening for half term include ZooTown at London Zoo, an indoor role-play centre for ages three to eight, and a Magic and Illusions family fun day at The Royal Institution. For older children (8+), the Cutty Sark Rig Climb offers a last chance for exhilarating views before closing for winter. Seasonal highlights also feature Halloween at Kew, a spooky light trail, and the return of Ice Rink Canary Wharf with a larger rink and improved lighting. A sponsored feature promotes Hobbledown Heath Pumpkin Patch in Hounslow, combining pumpkin picking with activities like bubble machines and marshmallow roasting.
The article also details various exhibitions, such as the revamped Space gallery at the Science Museum (free entry), the Natural History Museum’s Wildlife Photographer of the Year, and the closing Robot Zoo at Horniman Museum. Theatre options span long-running musicals like The Lion King and Matilda, to new shows like Disney’s Hercules, and family-specific productions such as Anansi the Spider and Mog The Forgetful Cat. Free activities abound, including the Diwali Festival at the National Maritime Museum, nature roadshows in Regent’s Park, and the British Library’s Story Explorers. London’s numerous free museums, playgrounds, and the Brent Lodge Park Millennium Maze also offer budget-friendly fun. While generally beneficial, some implicit risks include the need to book free museum tickets in advance due to crowds and ensuring activities are age-appropriate for specific children, as highlighted for the Pirates exhibition.
