London Tube Strike: September Action Announced by RMT Union
Rolling strike action on the London Tube network is set for seven days in September, impacting various grades of staff at different times. The RMT union initiated this action due to management's alleged failure to address key worker concerns. These concerns include pay, fatigue management stemming from strenuous shift patterns, a reduction in the working week, and the non-fulfillment of previous agreements. The strike, beginning September 5th with Depot Operational Control Managers at Ruislip, will continue across several days, affecting different divisions. The exact extent of disruption to lines and stations remains unclear, pending updates from TfL. RMT General Secretary Eddie Dempsey highlights the strenuous work of Tube staff and emphasizes that their demands are not excessive, but crucial to address serious health and wellbeing issues caused by fatigue and extreme shift rotations. TfL has yet to provide a statement on the matter.
