London’s Independent Venue Week 2026: A Live Music Celebration
Independent Venue Week (IVW) is set to host its 13th annual celebration of live music and culture from January 26 to February 1, 2026. This much-loved nationwide event will see 236 venues across the UK, including over 30 in London, open their doors to hundreds of shows. The core mission of IVW is to encourage fans to support their local venues by attending gigs, buying tickets, and enjoying a vibrant night out. It serves as a crucial platform for independent music spaces, highlighting their cultural significance and ensuring their longevity in the face of industry challenges.
This year, south London's innovative rock duo Nova Twins, Georgia South and Amy Love, are the Artist Ambassadors. Fresh off their third album “Paradise & Butterflies” and a Tiny Desk Concert, they are scheduled for extensive international touring. Their exclusive IVW performance at the 350-capacity Amersham Arms sold out almost immediately, underscoring the event's popularity and the demand for live music.
London's participating venues showcase incredible diversity and rich history. For instance, Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, a British jazz institution since 1959, is joining IVW for the first time, featuring Annie & The Caldwells and a Black Lives In Music night with CHERISE. The unique Theatreship, a barge in Canary Wharf, will host “Songs On The Water,” an evening of shanties. The Ivy House in Nunhead, London's first community-owned pub, will feature Picture Parlour and an “in conversation” event with Damian O’Neill of The Undertones. Other notable venues include the Edwardian Bush Hall, the historic Camden Assembly, and The Social, a central London mainstay with Britpop roots. Signature Brew Haggerston, The Dome in Tufnell Park, Jack White's Third Man Records, and the Sebright Arms further exemplify the breadth of venues participating, each offering distinct experiences and showcasing a wide array of emerging and established talent. IVW provides essential visibility and revenue for these vital cultural hubs.
